The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is a mandatory standardized test that the secondary school students in Ontario have to complete in order to obtain the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This test is written in Grade 10 and is based on the Ontario curriculum expectations for language and communication, particular reading and writing, up to and including Grade 9. Successful completion of the test is recorded on the Ontario Student Transcript.
OSSLT measures whether the students meet the minimum requirements for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. All the students across Ontario write this test on the same date, usually in late March each year.
It is administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO). For more information including previous exams, test questions, sample OSSLT etc., please explore the link: Examples of the Assessments: Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test
